In one day of sunshine, it can be used by more than 9,000 household solar water heaters.

The photovoltaic power station is the first grid-connected floating distributed photovoltaic power generation project of the State Energy Group and is also a supporting facility for the carbon dioxide capture and resource utilization (CCUS) project of the Taizhou Power Plant.

Clean Coal Power Technology Innovation of Changzhou Power Plant

According to reports, the CCUS project of Taizhou Power Plant has been included in the “Key Core Technology Research Project for Clean and Efficient Utilization of Coal” of the National Development and Reform Commission, the “Green and Low-carbon Technology Research Reserve Project” of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the “Major Demonstration Project of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Science and Technology Innovation” of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Department.

Through the application of water-cooled wall tubes, the project has created several coal-fired CCUS records such as “capture scale”, “energy efficiency index” and “continuous operation time”. CCUS refers to carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage. The project separates CO2 from industrial emission sources or directly utilizes or stores it to achieve the industrial process of CO2 emission reduction.

Yang Hengjun, deputy to the National People’s Congress and secretary of the Party Committee of Desheng Central Village, Xinqiao Town, Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province, said that the capture and utilization of carbon dioxide by Taizhou Power Plant has leading and exemplary significance internationally, and floating water surface photovoltaics fully embodies the green transformation and ecological development in the low-carbon innovation of thermal power enterprises.

“As a traditional thermal power enterprise, Changzhou Power Plant has taken the lead in the road of ‘vigorously developing new quality productivity’ through technological transformation and industrial layout. Changzhou Power Plant has taken its characteristics of transformation and development,” said Li Jian, a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He believes that Changzhou Power Plant has provided a good example for other traditional industries in enterprise transformation and upgrading and developing new quality productivity.

Thermal power leads the new era of clean coal power

It is understood that the State Energy Changzhou Power Plant takes clean and efficient large units as the core. The two million-kilowatt units in the second phase of the project are responsible for the innovative demonstration concept of the “166” project, to build a leading “14th Five-Year Plan” clean coal-fired power unit, and strives to create a safe, reliable, effective, isn’t and flexible, clean and low-carbon, intelligent and smart, co-production and co-supply, and coupled development “six-type power station”.

Through technical innovations such as double-tower double-circulation desulfurization, low-nitrogen burners and denitrification SCR, wet electrostatic precipitator, condensation-transformation wet removal, etc., the power plant has significantly reduced the emission of major pollutants, achieved ultra-low emissions of pollutants including SO2, NOx, dust, and coordinated removal of pollutants such as SO3 and Hg, and fully met the requirements of Jiangsu Province’s pollutant-friendly emission standards.

The sludge treatment and co-combustion put into operation by Changzhou Power Plant uses the “steam indirect heat exchange drying + coal-fired boiler coupled co-combustion” technical path to resource, harmlessly and scale up the urban sludge. The maximum processing capacity is 159,000 tons/year, which solves 30% of Changzhou’s sludge disposal needs and alleviates the pressure on Changzhou’s domestic sludge disposal. After the completion of the second phase unit, it will further expand the 500 tons/day sludge coupling and co-combustion to give full play to the impact of thermal power.
